This weekend I was given the honor of reading "Manhunt" by Lillie Spencer. I had not yet heard of this book nor had I heard of the author but it came to me through someone I adored and it was a debut novel so I couldn't wait to get started. "Manhunt" is a romantic, suspense, murder, mystery all wrapped up in a beautiful package. Ms. Spencer introduces us to our hero, Michael, in a trial by fire situation where he is receiving a middle of the night phone call from his father. Michael is informed that Nikki, someone he apparently cares a great deal about, is in the hospital unconscious after receiving another beating from her ex-boyfriend Sebastian. We see Michael process the information and go to find Sebastian. The next thing we, the readers, see is Michael arriving at the hospital covered in blood and trying to get to Nikki's side. As he arrives to a now conscious Nikki he quickly realizes that Nikki is suffering from amnesia and has no idea who he is. The only thing on Micheal's mind is getting Nikki and himself out of the hospital and far away as quickly as possible. While Nikki doesn't remember Micheal, there is something telling her to trust the beautiful man imploring her to leave the hospital with him as quickly as possible. In that moment...the Manhunt begins.Believe it or not "Manhunt" is a tragically beautiful story of life, love, and loyalty. It tells of the kind of love that bonds people for life... be it for good or bad for the right reasons or for the wrong ones. Ms. Spencer created a group of friends that have spent their entire lives loving (or in some cases hating) one another. Through flashbacks, we saw each relationship begin and in current time we saw how they had flourished. These relationships were based on survival, trust, and human kindness and I am walking away with five new "friends".
I read some of the reviews of "Manhunt" on Amazon.com (they were all great..just so you know) and people were surprised with how the book ended. I, however, was not...I knew exactly how this story would play out. That being said, sometimes it isn't the destination that makes the trip memorable but the journey. That is exactly the case in "Manhunt." I look forward to seeing more work from Lillie Spencer.

I didn't know what to expect when I bought this book. I saw on a blog I follow that it was a must read. I loved the characters and I thought the book flowed perfectly for me. I really enjoyed this one and I would/have suggested it to anyone! It was like all the other books I read, but it's always nice to have a little change when it comes to books.
I don't typically read murder/mystery type books, but gave it a try because I knew it was also a romance. I'm so glad I did! I would recommend this book to any romance novel fan. Lillie does an excellent job of making you fall in love with the story line and characters. I was instantly sucked into the story, and once I started reading I couldn't put it down. Definitely a story I will read again.
From the very first page the author pulled me in and wouldn't let go. Michael is a truly amazing character. He is one of those people you want to have on your side because he will always stick by you. The suspense in this book definitely keeps you turning the page. The author does a brilliant job in describing things whether it be the action, sex scenes, or drama in a tasteful, but alluring manner. This has definitely earned a place on my favorites shelf so I can read it again in the future.
Without giving too much away, the plot revolves around Michael and Nikki, the latter of whom suffers from amnesia after a brutal attack by her ex-boyfriend.
Manhunt truly is a harrowing journey about two close friends trying to salvage the pieces of their lives into a semblance of normalcy.
It's enchanting to watch Nikki's relationship unfold with Michael as she regains bits of her memory. Having dealt with the subject of amnesia in my own novel, it's fascinating to see another author's perspective on it. It felt like I was gaining a better depth of understanding along with Nikki, and it proved to be a very enticing narrative device.
I also enjoyed the tone of the novel as Nikki and Michael shared their thoughts with the reader. It felt very raw and believable, especially when exploring Nikki's inner struggles.
Often times I find myself so inspired by Lillie's descriptive writing that I feel the need to write in my own novel, which is probably the best compliment I can bestow an author. I honestly had no idea how Manhunt would end as I flipped from one page to the next.
I look forward to reading more of Lillie's work!
This was a good story. It missed something but I can't put my finger on it. At the end, a couple pages were unreadable. It looked all messed up. Not sure why.
Nikki and Michael grew up together. They were best friends and loved each other. Until he feels he's not good enough for her and leaves for college, med school.
She feels lonely and upset and turns to someone else while he is gone. Michael ends up being there for her when she really needs him.
This is their story.
This was really good. This is a story of childhood sweethearts who end up breaking up for reasons you find out later. Nikki comes to Sebastien, who is Micheal's enemy for comfort and starts a relationship. But Sebastien is an abusive drunk and the story opens up with Nikki in the hospital this time for serious injuries. Oh and she has no idea who she is let alone anyone else. Michael convinces her to leave the hospital with him and from there they are on the run from the cops for murder of Sebastien.
This was sweet and at moments intense. I loved the flashbacks of Michael and Nikki's relationship. In the end you find out what really happened that night when all of Nikki's memories come back. About half way through I kind figure it out but it was written really well. I loved Sophie and Christian who are Nikki and Micheal's best friends. They were so supportive and it was really touching at moments. I look forward to more books by this author.
