I love reading about raising poultry of any kind. I have a small flock of chickens( bantam and unusual breeds), guinea, geese and Turkey(broad breasted and heritage). I raise them all together and desperate them at breeding time only. Enjoyed this book very much.Product details

I read the draft version of this book and now the final version. I was impressed then and more so now with the great photo additions. I urged the author to make this book available on because it is invaluable information about raising Heritage Turkeys naturally. I have many animals on my homestead, but like many people had discounted ever trying turkeys because of the commercial turkey downfalls of being unable to breed naturally, hens not being broody and not having the instinct to raise their chicks, chicks being "fragile" with a 50-60% die off rate common, etc. That was not the type of sustainable animal/poultry I wanted no matter how good tasting turkey is. I was thrilled to learn that all those downfalls could be avoided by finding the right Heritage Turkeys that can naturally graze and reproduce.
This book covers EVERYTHING you need to know about raising Heritage Turkeys naturally, from hatching eggs, raising chicks/poults, to butchering, to even including delicious recipes and marinades. An all inclusive resource for anyone considering adding turkeys to the Homestead. Highly recommend it !!!
I loved the book. A lady was talking about giving me a turkey and I couldn't find much information about them. This book came just at the right time for me to make the right decision. I feel like it has given me a great amount of information and a confidence for raising my own turkeys one day. This book is way more than just raising turkeys, it also includes butchering tips, & recipes. It is well written & edited, more so than most kindle books I've read. This book is going on my favorites list!

You will learn different ways to raise these hearty breeds on a small scale in your backyard or on your homestead. It is clear from the text that Autumn has first hand experience with the methods she describes.
