You shut down and wear a mask to others we seem fine but inside your dying, this is how Emery Shaw felt. Razorblade Kisses is a difficult for some to read but a story that needs to be told. It will leave you Raw,Gutted,Heartbroken...Emery Shaw is not a victim but a Survivor.I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars Emery Shaw is a damaged girl, she violated in the worse way, she couldn't tell anyone what was going on in her life. Some would say she is a victim but she is a Survivor, she is a Fighter. She has bottled everything up till she meets Rachel in the most unconventional way. Rachel came into Emery life at the right time and the bound the two of them formed is like no other.
Emery did the only thing she thought was best, she left her life behind and begins her life has Emily Sanders. While on the run this is the first time she is living, but her passed still holds a great deal to her future. She lives in fear of being found but in the process she is living and rounds Noah he helps Emily (Emery) feel things she thought she was incapable of feeling, she also finds that all men are not bad.
Emily(Emery) has to run so they don't find her and that's when she becomes Emma Simpson, During her time in Savannah she finds herself helping Lucas who plays a big part in Emma life. Tim comes into Emma life at the right time and shows her she does deserve so much than what she thinks she does.
Something very tragic happens and Emily (Emery) and she runs and becomes Ericka Smith where is so alone and doesn't think she deserved to be happy.
Emery Shaw story isn't a hearts and flowers kind of story, this is a story with strong subject material, it's gritty, raw and will leave you speechless. R.L. Griffin has done a unbelievable job bringing this story which is out of her norm.

Once again, R.L. Griffin continues to take me on a journey of one of her characters who fights her way to freedom. The supporting characters are also complex with flaws of their own. No one is perfect. I do want to make the disclaimer that when looking at the title, I was afraid that Em was a cutter. This is NOT the case.
Can't wait for R.L. Griffin to decide that her next book is ready to be released! I can't get enough of her characters!
Razorblade Kisses effect you in ways you’ll never understand unless you’ve walked in Emery’s shoes. This girl was robbed of her innocence by a man who should have been there for her but instead he took everything away. This journey you go on with Emery, Emma, Emily, Erika is a messed up emotional roller-coaster, sending your own emotions into overdrive.
You won’t know what mood you’re feeling because you go from happy, to sad, to pain, to angry and to sympathy sometimes in the same chapter. Em is a fighter and a survivor even if she doesn’t know it and doesn’t feel it. The girl can win any battle that’s thrown her way and trust me she has a lot. Not just in the physical sense, but in the mental sense as well.
Razorblade Kisses is not for the weak, but if you power through the hard parts with Em, you’ll come out a survivor just like she did. This story will break your heart and make you cry. Tears of sadness, tears of pain, tears anger and tears of happiness. You will feel this book, you will feel every emotion. It’s raw and it’s real.
This book has affected me in such a way that I’ve never been effected before. R.L did an amazing job with this story and telling it in a way that will touch your core. There’s not enough stars to give this book, 5 stars just seem petty as this book goes beyond any rating system we have.
Razorblade Kisses (RBK) is an all consuming, heart in throat type of read. It's actually the second time this year that a story has completely floored me. Leaving me utterly speechless and with such a hangover that I feel lost. It's the type of story that I crave and live for. When the author generously allowed me an opportunity to read an advanced copy I jumped in feet first and OH MY GOD!! From the prologue right up until the last word, I felt such a heavy weight on my chest. I was filled with anxiety, excitement and such a tug on my emotions.
RBK tells the story of a Emerson. Emerson is a 16 year old who makes a decision that will change her life. She is holding on to a heartbreaking secret that haunts her every day. Immediately I felt disgust for what this poor girl has had to endure. She makes the tough decision for her sanity, but this will not only affect her, but also the one person who is her light and that she loves dearly.
This is a story that you must experience first hand without too much information, so I can't go any further into the plot. But what I will say is that this story will consume your mind, body and soul because that is it's purpose. It's meant to rock you to the core. It's a journey with lots of lows but sprinkled with some highs that melts and repairs your heart. RBK is a tough read, but so well worth it. It's mentally exhausting but in such a good way.
RBK showed me how it feels to have my heart ripped in two, in slow motion. You will experience Emerson's hurts and pains and then cheer her on for her will to survive. This story is different and unique. It touched me in so many ways and goes on my 6 star reads shelf! It's absolutely brilliant and one that I'll never forget.
