I liked the idea of this book, I really did but was very annoyed about it being part of a trilogy. This is very definitely a 'middle' book and I felt deprived by the ending. I don't think you needed to read part one as I didn't feel like I missed anything. However after reading most of the book, I soon realised that I wasn't going to 'know' the ending unless I read the 3rd book. Up until about 3/4 of the way through I was enjoying the plot and character development but the ending was wrapped up too quickly and then an unsatisfying 'cliffhanger' of an ending. I thought the H and h were likable and strong. I thought their story was credible and I could even accept their love affair outside of marriage because I thought it was going to cancel out the curse. All of a sudden towards the end, they just arrive at the conclusion (with no real back up) that they won't be ending the curse.I suppose if you wait for book 3 to come out, then you can buy book 2 & 3 together and read it without the annoying wait.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I could not put it down. I can wait to read the next book for Margaret story to see she able end family curse. I saw parallels to human lives when we feel wronged we want to lash out to hurt the person who hurt us as we see in the story however it hurt more than the two initial people.
very good series good shape
In this second part of the Chattan Curse, you will be just as hooked as in the first one. The lady needs money for sustenance and tries to trick Chattan into believing she is a witch. Well, turns out she is definitely 'be-witching'. Great continuation in the saga to find a cure for a multigenerational curse before its too late. Looking forward to book 3 to see if the sister is more successful than her brothers in breaking the curse. A definite good read!
I was so excited to read this, but I was not as happy with it as I thought I would be.
I thoroughly enjoyed book one, but this one was not as good. Not as captivating.
It was still a decent story though. And I do look forward to reading book 3. But I won't rush to buy it like I did with this one.
I gave this book a five star rating because it had all the elements of a good . I would recommend this book to all romantic readers.
This second book was even better than the first. I can't wait to read the third. This series is one of Kathy Maxwell's better ones. I love the magic throw into it like Nora Roberts. But of course this is Kathy Maxwell's writing which is different. This is a five-star book it has everything.
Oh, how I loved this book! Given what we learned of Harry in Lyon's Bride, I was pretty sure his story would be amazing, and I was right! That said, I had also worried that it would be dark - darker than I like to read - but thankfully, it wasn't! Harry overcame most of his demons early on, and then resolved the things that were within his power to resolve, and left the rest in Fate's hands.
My favorite thing about these books is the profound message of love being the most important thing, for without it, nothing else matters. One by one this generation of Chattans are failing victim to the Chattan Curse, but refuse to give up, refuse to turn their backs on true love, no matter the cost. And. I. LOVE. That!!!!!
Up next is Margaret's story. She's Neal and Harry's sister, and will not stand by while a bitter old witch destroys her family. She's the Chattan's last hope to break the curse, and I can't wait to read all about how she does it in The Devil's Heart!!
The bottom line The Scottish Witch is such a feel good story. Filled with hope, inspiration, romance and steamy goodness, it was everything I had hoped for, and more! Harry and Portia are amazing together, perfect for one another, and I love their happily ever after!
My thanks to Avon Books for providing me with a copy of this wonderful book in exchange for an honest review.
